Chai T, a flavorful cup of warm tea and companionship's Story

Hello there, friend! Thanks for stopping by!

At Hobbes Haven our mission is to help shape & support a better life for feral & stray cat colonies in our varying communities of the Columbia River Gorge Oregon.

We want to introduce you to Chai T!
She is a flavorful cup of warm tea and companionship- not only is she a beautiful Calico Torbie girl, but she is a rescued girl who was born in a cold and open orchard, and shows she is thankful for being rescued by melting into your hands in a gentle purr. Chai-T was initially going to be returned to live as a feral cat, but after working with her for just a couple of days and realizing, seeing her thankful personality and realizing that she would be returned without any siblings to live with, we decided to keep her indoors and keep working with her to domesticate her- this is why she has her left ear clipped at the tip to show she was sterilized.
Chai-T is beautiful, showing us all of the fall colors in her coat, with splotches of orange sprinkled amongst a gray and white body. By the time Chai-T and her brother Harvest were caught, they were the only two kittens out of a litter of 6 around, leaving this brother and sister to fend for themselves. The caretaker easily trained Chai-T and her brother because they were very food motivated, but when it got to trapping them, Chai-T quickly outsmarted the traps and took a little more maneuvering to try to catch. Chai-T is a very sharp and smart girl who will enjoy being the apple of someone's eye to get all of the attention. She may seem shy initially, but melts in your hands when you start scratching behind her ears and under her chin. The caretaker that helped trap these two siblings became very attached to her brother Harvest, so now after being spayed, Chai-T is looking for a home where she can be a kitten to your cat or can be adopted alone initially but hopefully in the future have a friend join her- all kittens do best in pairs

Chai-T and her brother Harvest are being fostered by their loving caretaker as they recuperate from their sterilization and are learning to be more and more domesticated.

Currently we have an estimated guess that Chai-T was born mid-June. Her adoption fee will reimburse her foster home of the following costs:
- Her spay surgery: ensuring he will have a healthy future!
- x1 FVRCP vaccine (with a 2nd scheduled for October and a 3rd in November)
- 1 year rabies vaccine
- x1 deworming treatment
- 1 month flea protection
- Microchip with a lifetime subscription.
-----

We hope to find families that will keep in touch with Hobbes Haven and update us with pictures and videos of our rescued friends! Remember that many times we have been fostering these kittens for many months, and that is another reason you know Hobbes Haven is a good-hearted organization to support, because our goal is to find the RIGHT homes, NOT a home RIGHT NOW.
Here at Hobbes Haven we focus on supporting the health and well-being of feral and stray cat colonies via T-N-R-M (Trap- Neuter- Return- Monitor); if we encounter kittens or cats young enough or friendly enough to domesticate, we rescue them from those sites and work with them directly to get them healthy and ready for a second chance at life as a part of a family and a home. Our rescued cats and kittens are unique being that they were born as feral or stray cats, meaning it took more time and involvement to domesticate them may than others. When you support Hobbes Haven via your adoption and donations, you are helping a bigger ripple effect, because you are supporting existing feral cat colonies stop their cycle of suffering by getting all colony cats sterilized and vaccinated, but also offering a very rare second chance to a few lucky ones.
At Hobbes Haven, your adoption fee helps us cover this Cinder's first veterinary care at one of our collaborating veterinary clinics in the Columbia River Gorge.

Up to the point of adoption, Hobbes Haven has covered all expenses out of pocket- your donations help us cover these collective costs and truly make a difference!
------

Interested in adopting Chai-T?
1. Email us via this link or at HobbesHaven@gmail.com- please allow 24-48 hours for a response.
2. Catch us at one of our upcoming Adoption Clinics held at our collaborating veterinary clinics- follow our socials to learn about the next ones coming up!
3. Make an appointment to meet us virtually and see these rescued kittens in a relaxed and comfortable state.

** Note: We are looking for the right families seeking a bonded pair of kittens- our preference for the benefit of the rescued kittens is for them to have a sibling to grow alongside with, this is for their acclimation to their new home and for their overall quality of life.**
