Chai AVAILABLE LONG TERM RESIDENT UPDATED 1-4-2026 Chai is just over 2-1/2 years old and came to the shelter as a baby. We first posted him at 4 months old as a playful and fun kitten. He's still playful at times, and as long as he is comfortable in his area he enjoys all the head scratches and love. He greets you and follows you to be petted. Sometimes he even stands and puts his paws on your leg as his sign of loving the attention, or rubs against your leg. He loves toys, treats, blankets. And though he is very friendly he is also a little shy and not used to being picked up and carried around. We are looking for a calm home for Chai. He is beautiful, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. C.A.R.A (Citizens for Animal Rescue and Adoption)'s Adoption Policy

Please email citizensanimalrescue@gmail.com for an application or use our online link. Once an application is approved you will be contacted to set up an appointment to visit the animals. If you let us know what you have in mind (age, gender, personality), we'll have several ready to meet. We are open to the public Monday-Friday 1-4PM and Saturday/other times by appointment. Please call 217-655-4353 or 217-799-8858 for appointments and questions. After you've met and decided on the pet for you, you will fill out the final paperwork and you will be able to take your pet home. All adopters must be able to meet and pick up their pet as we do not offer transportation. All pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

C.A.R.A. is a 501(c)3 non-for-profit, No Kill animal shelter and rescue for homeless, injured/neglected or surrendered animals. Through community donations we are able to provide high quality care and rehabilitation for animals in our care.
