Cera's Story

ORANGE TABBY; White around mouth and neck area.
ADULT FEMALE; Est DOB: 4/20/2019
ARRIVAL: 6/7/ 2019
HISTORY: Cera was trapped with her sibling Hermione (adopted!) in a local colony of cats and together sought refuge here at CFC.

The key to my heart right now is having a cat or other cats to help me be at my best. When I see staff members or longer term volunteers coming my way, I will happily hop down off my condo perch and glide towards them to welcome them into my space. I am a sweet, gentle natured lady but losing out on some key early on socialization as a baby has left me a bit shy and uncertain around strangers. Once I know you, you’ll see I have a playful, fun side to me that will quickly have you coming back for a second helping of wonderful me! If you have time and patience and an extra cat or two, I’d love for you to consider me. Even if you don’t have other felines, I’d be happy to hook you up with my super best friend Fred (he’s next to me in some of the pictures) and in no time, we would all be best of friends.

Fall Update 2025: I’ve struck out on my own!! You may recall for many years, I was the constant companion to Casey on the top of a condo. I was her “bookend” and at times her “day bed” as she laid and leaned into me. I was often behind her and literally gave her back support day in and day out. I’ve exited that top of condo spot and have found new friends across the room…and yes, atop a condo. It’s a quad of us now hanging out together…Fred, Tibby and Patsy Cline. We’re all respectful of each other and no one is using the other for physical support. It’s kind of nice really. I still have my human friend Scott stopping by to say “hi.” He is soft and gentle in his approach to me (and others) so I still get some interaction from those humans. With my daily room service and housekeeping, I want for nothing and am enjoying this nice change of pace and circle of friends. With my health intact, I’m set up for a lovely fall season. Cera

Spring Update 2025: Our good friend CERA has been used for a while as a bookend and personal backrest for Casey (grey kitty in her room). Cera has more recently up and left that top of condo area and is now with another group of kitties across the room... Patsy Cline, Belinda and Tibby for example, and she's her own woman! While still very shy, she's still accepting of Volunteer Scott's skilled petting sessions which take place as he balances on a ladder and carefully reaches for her in what can be a tricky group of at times swatty ladies! LOL. Cera is rarely seen off the condo perch choosing to make her movements when no humans are around. She seems nonetheless content and pleased with her daily housekeeping and room service options.

Winter 2025 Update: We all fulfill a special need either physically or emotionally for someone and that someone is my girlfriend Casey. She and I are pretty much inseparable. I'm the one she literally leans against for physical support but I also think she likes my body heat. We don't exchange many words, but it's clear we both mutually love and respect the other. Just the other day, Toothless (a newer kitty in the room) thought she could ever so suavely stroll on over and join our click. With our ears a tad flat and expressing other negative body energy, we made it clear we did not have any "friend" openings for her. All's well that ends well, as she just went home so maybe it's ok anyway. That's not to say I'm not wishing to go home, but I am content where I am, I'm healthy and want for nothing. So...is it greener on the other side? IDK. No doubt, I'm grateful I can lead my carefree and stress free life.
