Cedar's Story

Meet Cedar, one of the 13 cats rescued from an emergency intake at a known dumping site in New Brighton. Cedar is a big, hunky flame point boy who arrived in poor medical condition, with wounds, fleas, and a rough body condition. Initially, Cedar was quite reactive, and we weren't sure if he would be able to be placed or if he might need to be released.

With time and care, Cedar has transformed into a sweet, affectionate boy. He now eagerly greets you at the front of his cage, meowing for attention and demanding pets. Cedar continues to make progress both behaviorally and medically. While he is not currently available for adoption, we would greatly appreciate any donations towards his ongoing medical care. Your support helps us ensure Cedar gets the love and treatment he needs.

Starlight Stray Sanctuary's adoption process is conducted online via Shelterluv. Applicants, whether for general adoption or a specific cat, apply through our online portal. We strive to review applications within 72 hours, acknowledging the volunteer-driven nature of our organization. Our approach prioritizes thoughtful matching over a first-come-first-served basis. Requirements include stable housing with proof of ownership or landlord consent, age 18 or older, and up-to-date vet records for existing pets. Upon approval, applicants can schedule meet and greets. As a foster-based organization without a facility, the process may take a bit longer, utilizing foster homes and partners for meeting locations.
