Cecil's Story

Cecil - Male DOB 4/30/2014 Domestic Short Hair - Black

Cecil is a sweet senior boy who’s come a long ways in the past 6 months and now feeling more comfortable and at ease with people. He came to us dealing with painful dental issues, and once he got the treatment he needed, it made a big difference in how he felt day to day. As he started to feel better, you could see the shift. He still takes a moment when a hand reaches toward him, but once he knows what to expect, he leans into pets and even lifts his rump when you stroke down his back. He likes to hang out up high in a whale bed or on a puffy bed with a soft blanket over it. He's still a bit afraid to let you pet him if he is walking around on the floor, but as long as he is laying somewhere, he will let you pet him.

Cecil may take a while to settle in and learn how to trust new people, but he is also not a needy cat, and just wants a comfortable cat tree in front of a window, or a puffy bed up off the floor somewhere comfortable for him to relax. Cecil mostly keeps to himself and isn’t looking for a buddy, but he’s perfectly fine sharing space with another calm cat. He would also be just as content as the only cat in a quiet home. He came to the rescue with a friend, Molly, who was equally as afraid of people as well, and they would do fine going home together where they know each other.

Cecil does get some clear watery discharge in his eyes, and sometimes a bit of crusty buildup, and will need them gently cleaned a couple of times a day, and he’s usually very good about it with someone who knows how to handle cats. This is not because he is sick, it can be from various causes such as allergies, blocked tear ducts, or just the air quality at the rescue. He is given L-Lysine twice a day to help with that situation which he eats happily in a Churu.

Cecil is looking for a calm, patient home where he can keep settling in at his own pace. He does know Molly and has shared space with her comfortably if someone is hoping to adopt two, but he doesn’t need to go home with another cat. He would need a home with a cat savvy person, and no dogs or children.

Please apply via our easy online application at https://furrr.org/cat-adoption-process/All kitten(s) and cat(s) at FuRRR Feline Rescue are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations for their age, combo tested for FIV/FeLV, microchipped and have a Health Certificate from a licensed NH veterinarian.
