Catfish's Story

Today we want to tell you a sad story about one of our latest intakes. This is Catfish and he was thrown outside into this freezing cold weather when he was no longer wanted. He’s a house cat so he doesn’t have the skills or fur to survive outside, so when he was found by a good samaritan shivering in the cold, she brought him to us. We noticed Catfish had some curling to his ears, pressure sores on his wrists and a swollen jaw. When he was brought to the vet, we found out he is about 10 years old, the curling to his ears was from frostbite, the pressure sores are from him leaning on his wrists so his body didn’t touch the freezing ground and his larger bottom jaw was from years of neglect to his teeth which resulted in his jaw remodeling. While Catfish was getting his dental, the vet wanted to take a closer look at his ears and the tips cracked off in her hands!!! 😳 It didn’t cause him any pain because he was under sedation and the tips of his ears were alread dead.

Catfish is the sweetest, friendliest, most laidback cat! So we’re hoping to find him a wonderful home that will accept his unique look. Catfish had bloodwork done before his dental and it came back normal. He may always have the strong jaw line but his teeth are beautiful now. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date with his vaccinations & parasite preventatives and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. He seems cat friendly and we can dog test upon request.
If you would like to meet our cats and kittens, we will be open to the public between 9-12 and 3-4 Monday through Friday, (weekends appointments available for approved applicants) for meet and greets. We still ask you to fill out an application prior to coming to speed up the process. If your application is approved, you will be able to adopt the same day! We do not adopt out of state, so NJ residents only please.
