Caterpillar's Story

Caterpillar, affectionately called Cat for short, comes to the Tabby Shack after being found outside by a concerned citizen. He earned his name early on because once he entered the rescue, he stayed hidden inside a cat tree, sitting upright, glued to the side of the box, just like a caterpillar on a branch. The only thing you could see was his big, scared eyes, the rest of him was one with the box. Thankfully, after introducing him to another rescue (see Mr. Floof), he started to finally come out of his cocoon and blossom. Cat is still timid to human pets, but he is slowly coming around to them as time passes. He is often found snuggling with other rescues, napping in a cat tree, or most often, playing with every toy in sight. He is extremely active and playful, whether it's with toys or wrestling with his 2 best friends in the rescue. He is very athletic and is often zooming around the home. He's very funny to watch and he never ceases to provide entertainment. He has no issue meeting any new rescue cat, he is definitely a "cat's cat" for sure. He has been with the Tabby Shack for about 8 months now. His perfect home would definitely include a feline friend for him to play and snuggle with, but also someone who is patient and willing to continue working with him on learning to trust humans. He is currently living with other rescue cats and the resident dog. Cat is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and house trained.

The Tabby Shack's Adoption Policy
Potential adopters are welcome to contact us via phone, text, or email regarding any questions/concerns about our rescues prior and following adoption. Once a rescue has been selected, we require a questionnaire to be filled out answering questions about current household and pets. We also require a vet reference, which we use to contact the adopter's current vet to ensure they appropriately take care of any current/former animals in their household. Once we feel confident the potential adopter is a safe home for our rescue, we have the adopter sign the adoption contract, pay the adoption fee, and then they can pick up/we will deliver the rescue to the adopter's residence. Once the adoption has taken place, we like to stay in regular contact with the adopter during the 45-day adjustment period to ensure both the adopter and the rescue are adjusting well. If problems arise during the 45-day period and the adopter cannot/will not keep the rescue cat, we make arrangements to return the rescue cat to us.
