Cashmere's Story

Hi, I am Cashmere, I was left to walk the streets of a small town in Tennessee, it was there that I got an eye infection and lost my eyesight. When I was found the infection was so bad they had to remove my eye. I am doing much better now. I am super sweet and very loving, but it does take a while for me to get used to new surroundings. I get very afraid. I am in a foster home now where I have adjusted great and I get along with the other cat. I love to have my back and tummy petted, I also love to watch someone vacuum. I am very fascinated by it and not afraid.

Smith County Humane's Adoption Policy
Potential adopters complete an adoption application and go through a vetting process. Our coordinator speaks with them, asks questions regarding the potential pets living situation, we do a home visit or video call to assess the home. We also verify with their current vet that the pets they currently have are up to date on vaccines and preventatives. If approved, if there are other pets in the home, we do a meet and greet. Then we will finalize the adoption if all is approved by our coordinator.
