Captain's Story

Captain is a strikingly handsome male cat with a unique color that pictures don’t do justice. His journey to the shelter was marked by a fear of humans, causing him to shrink away from contact. Over time, he has found the courage to let his curiosity guide him. Though still wary, he now tentatively gets close to people, observing their actions with wide-eyed fascination. A bond has blossomed between Captain and a dedicated volunteer who has gained his trust so he allows himself to be pet. He seems to like treats which may hold the key to unlocking his heart. Captain wants things on his own terms. A calm, patient home would allow this boy to continue growing his trust with people.

Captain came to the shelter with a bad tooth, a mouth sore and fleas in July 2024, after he had been abandoned with 6 other cats when someone moved. Clearly he hadn't been cared for very well. He's approximately 6 years old. We hope someone adopts Captain and wins his heart with kindness.

He has been neutered, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, microchipped and is up to date on vaccines.

Email us at info@cnysnap.org or visit the shelter if you'd like to meet cautious Captain.

Link to hours of when to visit cats at our Cortland shelter:
https://cnysnap.org/#hours
