Camille's Story

Meet Camille

Camille is a beautiful gray tabby estimated to be between 2-4 years old and is looking for a very special forever home.

We first met Camille while TNVRing a colony on the west side of Columbus. Like many community cats, her life had been shaped by survival. Life had not been kind to her. During her time outdoors, she suffered an injury to one of her eyes. Once she was safely trapped, she was finally able to receive the medical care she so desperately needed, including surgery to remove her damaged eye.

While recovering in foster we learned more about Camille- she is a very calm, quiet and gentle cat at heart. Camille is not feral, but she is still very shy and not fully comfortable with close human interaction. She tends to feel safest when she has space and time to adjust at her own pace.

We hoped that time in foster care would help her gain confidence and learn that humans can be trusted. While Camille made some progress, she has remained quite scared and prefers to keep to herself.

We truly weren't sure what the best future looked like for Camille. After time in foster and only small steps forward, we considered whether returning her to her colony- with her caretaker who faithfully looked after her- might be the kindest choice. But when release day arrived she made it clear that going back outside was not what she wanted. Despite every opportunity to leave her carrier, she chose to stay right where she was.

We listened to what Camille was telling us.

She deserves the chance to find something she may have never truly had before- a safe, quiet indoor home where she can settle in on her own terms and simply be loved for who she is.

So now we are searching for the person willing to give her that.

Camille will need an adopter who understands that trust takes time. Someone who will let her move at her own pace and accept her for who she is today, while remaining open to whatever progress tomorrow may bring. She may never be the cat who greets visitors at the door or curls up in laps. Much of the time, she may choose to hide where she feels safe.

She can be pet, she can be picked up and beneath the fear is a sweet soul who has simply had a difficult life.

Camille has spent years surviving outdoors, raising babies, enduring injury and facing challenges no cat should have to face alone. Now she deserves the chance to simply be safe.

We know finding the right home for Camille may take time, but we also know that there is someone out there with the patience, compassion and understanding she needs. In return, you'll be giving a deserving cat the opportunity to finally rest, settle in and live the life she has always deserved.

Camille is fully vetted and ready for her forever home.

If you are interested in meeting Camille or learning more about her, please send us a message.
