Callie's Story
Meet Callie

Callie, currently in MS awaiting transport to MA, is a beautiful, petite cat whose journey hasn't been easy. Rescued from the streets of Columbus, MS, she always had food and shelter, but what she lacked was stability and consistent love. After being bounced between a few homes, she finally landed in foster care, where she is safe and cared for—but still dreaming of something quieter and more personal.

Callie is a mellow, gentle soul who truly thrives with one-on-one attention. A busy, high-energy household is simply too much for her. She would do best as the only cat, or paired with another calm, laid-back feline. In fact, she has a special fondness for an older male cat in her foster home and often curls up beside him for comfort.

She has been exposed to young, boisterous dogs that chased her in the past, which caused her to retreat and hide for days at a time. Because of that, Callie developed a deep, roaring growl when she feels threatened—it's her way of saying she's scared, not aggressive. In a calmer environment, this behavior fades as she feels safe.

When overwhelmed, Callie seeks refuge in quiet, tucked-away spots. She does enjoy playing with toys and exploring, but the competition and activity in her current foster home make it hard for her personality to fully shine. She can be a bit timid when first picked up, but she warms quickly and will happily settle into your lap or curl up on your bed—and once she's there, she's content to stay until you're ready to move.

Callie is a sweet, loving cat who longs for Home, Sweet Home—a peaceful space where she feels chosen, secure, and truly part of the family. In return, she offers deep affection, loyalty, and the kind of quiet companionship that makes a house feel whole.

All of the Sweet Paws animals are loved a great deal by their rescuers, fosters, and the volunteers who've cared for them along the way. Your kitten will be up to date on appropriate vaccinations by adoption day, but please keep in mind that kittens require multiple routine vet visits throughout the course of their first year. Sweet Paws is staffed by volunteers, and processing applications is time intensive; therefore, we ask that you only submit an application if you are fully committed to adopting.
