Buttons- Memorial Honoring her spirit's Story

Sadly Buttons has passed away. The following is the post about Buttons on our facebook page , below that-was her original petfinder post. WE want to honor her on this page. She was loved. Please consider adopting (or donating towards )a senior/special needs kitty , your heart will thank you. <br/><br/><br/>Buttons:<br/>"Buttons 2020-12/28/2025<br/>Sometimes there are souls who arrive and go far too quickly, yet leave an indelible mark on our hearts, Buttons was one of those souls.<br/>Buttons’ story is one of hope, with a quiet ache of “what if only.”<br/>Buttons was found lingering around a property—seemingly abandoned and in poor condition. Through special diet, medication, and the most powerful medicine of all—love—Buttons lived a full year in comfort, free from pain, and deeply cherished.<br/>As time passed, Buttons began to lose her sight. Still, she loved to rest on the sill of a picture window, the sun warming her body. We don’t know if she could see the flora and fauna outside, or if she was remembering the days when she chased butterflies. Perhaps it was her imagination she gazed through—the window becoming a place of memory and peace.<br/>Buttons enjoyed a loving Christmas with her mom, she looked stunning as you can see in the photo below, the one with the black background.<br/>On December 28, the light gently dimmed, and Buttons left her foster’s loving arms to become a star in the sky.<br/>Buttons lived her best life because someone cared enough to take her in. Her world was transformed by the gentle, compassionate, and kind devotion of her foster mom. Each time we love a kitty—especially one who was failed by others—our own lives are changed as well. They become our guardians. Their spirit of hope becomes part of us.<br/>Buttons was loved. 🌟<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>Buttons is now on hospice care.<br/><br/>Buttons was found wandering around a neighborhood, thin, sad, but very friendly. A good Samaritan took her in and tried to find her owner. Unfortunately she wasn't microchipped and after posting flyers around the neighborhood she wasn't claimed. <br/><br/>We took in Buttons, had her vetted and placed her with a foster. Her foster is now providing hospice care to Buttons. Sadly, due to her advanced kidney disease our vet thinks she might have been poisoned. <br/><br/>Buttons is an affectionate cat. She'll need lifelong veterinary care, ie regular vet visits to monitor her kidneys. She's in the early stages of kidney disease. A worrisome reality for a kitty so young. <br/><br/>We are seeking only donations towards her veterinary diet. <br/><br/>Send an email to us at: thefaunafoundation@yahoo.com for information on donating towards her Rx food.

The Fauna Foundation's Adoption Policy
Currently, we have many kittens and several adults available for adoption. Our adoptables may change frequently so please check back to find your perfect match. Due to the special care we give all of our adoptable animals we will require a pre-adoption form to be filled out and submitted. The pre-adoption is merely informational , it doesn't require you to adopt NOR does it mean the animal your interested in would be the best animal for you. Once we've received the pre-adoption form we can set up a meet and greet with the animal(s) you're interested in. Normally we might require a home-check, although due to the pandemic we are willing to make other arrangements such as a facetime, video or photo virtual home check. We do request an adoption donation. In general kittens and cats are $150-$175 and up. Dogs in general are $250 and up Other animals vary. Sometimes an animal will have a sponsor so the adoption fee might be lower. In Oct/Nov we typically will lower our senior cat adoption donation. Special needs animals have varying suggested donation amounts requested-however we might provide medication, food, special beds, etc to help get those SPECIAL animals into homes. Some of our animals have "fairy godmothers" who crochet blankets, or provide beds, toys, litter , boxes or carriers for the animal to take with them to their new home. Every animal goes to their new home with a small supply of their current food. All of our animals are vaccinated, spayed or neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. Our relationship with the animal doesn't end once they are in your home. We will be here for you to answer questions, give suggestions and offer up any assistance you might need now or in the future for the well being of your pet. You and the pet will be forever part of our family. The Fauna Foundation is located in the hills of Malibu. Many of our adoptable kittens and cats are in foster homes, however we do have adoptable cats at the sanctuary. All visits must be pre-arranged. We aren't set up to accommodate drop in visitors.
