Button's Story

Baby Button is the last of the Mushroom Kids who hasn't found his forever home yet. He is now over a year old. He is the sweetest boy who still loves on him mom, Mush, and loves on you too. He is great with other cats, loves dogs and kids. As you've scrolled through the pics you see that he's with another black cat, that's Stellar. Button and Stellar are brothers from another mother. They sleep together, eat together and of course play together. It is extremely hard to adopt out black cats and even harder to adopt out a bonded pair, but we KNOW there is someone out there that would give these 2 a loving home so that they can live their lives out together. The Mushroom Kids came to us when they were 1 week old with their mom. So they’ve been hand raise with love and care since they came in. Button was the runt and we worried this little guy wouldn't make it, but look at him now! He looooves to eat! He also loves to be held and will purr away as you talk to him. Button is fully vetted, microchipped and FeLV/FIV negative. If you'd like to meet him, please send us a message. WARM - Waccamaw Animal Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy

To begin the adoption process, adopters are required to fill out an application form. Upon receipt a volunteer will conduct a background check with your current or former veterinarian. If a vet is not listed, please explain why. Once a background check has been conducted and approved, a volunteer will email you to set up a meet and greet with the animal you are interested in. If you are applying for a dog and currently have dogs, we do require you to bring them to the meet and greet so that we can see if they will be a good match together. If all goes well with the meet and greet, we then schedule a home visit. It is important that we approve the environment where our adoptees will live the rest of their lives. It's equally important that they meet other animals that live in the same home. Once the application, meet and greet, and home visit notes are reviewed by the Board of Directors, a volunteer will contact you regarding approval or non-approval. We appreciate your kindness, understanding, and patience in this process. Please remember we are volunteers doing this in our free time, so the process can take up to a week or more depending on our volunteers and your schedule. We can't stress enough that these animals have been through a lot in their lives before they came to the rescue. Their well-being comes first. It is very stressful for an animal to bounce from home to rescue to home to rescue, etc. Our goal is to find them their forever home and to not end up back in the system or ever have to relive what they’ve already been through.

Our Mission

WARM rescues and rehabilitates dogs and cats that have been abandoned and adopts them out into forever homes. Prior to adoption all adoptees are spayed/neutered, updated on vaccines, tested for feline diseases or canine heartworm (heartworm positive dogs will undergo treatment prior to adoption), microchipped and receive mo...
