Buttercup's Story

The first thing you will notice when you enter the foster’s home is a curious little brown and tan tabby with amber eyes rimmed in white. Meet Buttercup. She is the “official greeter” of the foster’s home – always wanting to say hello to anyone who enters.

Buttercup is described by her foster as “happy go lucky” and “chill.” These are great qualities in a cat who will easily assimilate into a home with children, other cats or kittens, and gentle dogs with a proper introduction. It would be fine if she were the only cat with a sole owner, but she really thrives in the company and interaction of other people and pets. She doesn’t seem to mind household noises such as the vacuum or airplanes overhead.

This sweet beauty is full of fun, too. She loves to play with any sort of wand toy, bouncy springs, hidey holes in tunnels, or climbing structures. And, look out, when she gets to play with a light or laser toy; Buttercup takes it to the next level and becomes “laser focused,” climbing and chasing until she drops with happiness and exhaustion. Any potential adopter must have at least one of these!!

When she is not playing, Buttercup is a “love sponge,” seeking human connection and attention. She likes to be picked up and held, she loves to cuddle and be scratched, especially her face, chin, and neck. She enjoys hanging out in a sunny spot or watching nature out of windows and screen doors, but is not a “door-dasher.” Buttercup is very content to be where her humans are.

Buttercup and her tiny siblings were found in an abandoned home in a high cupboard. It is thought that she may have had a fall and suffered some sort of trauma when she was a baby. Buttercup climbs and is very agile, but at times one can see a slight hesitation or wobble. Her adopter must understand that at times she can appear a bit off balance. In all other respects, Buttercup is a healthy, fearless, and active girl who needs no special medication or treatment.

She is more than ready to find her forever, happy home.
