There's a lot to tell of Butter Jr.'s story but we'll try to condense it - in a few words, he's fabulous and miraculous!

Butter Jr. initially came to land here at GGOH after a TNR project at a farm - the colony of cats was approaching the out-of-control status. We welcomed Butter Jr. in and due to his super friendly nature, he was quickly adopted. Fast forward a year and a half later, and Butter Jr. is diagnosed with FIP. The family reaches out and we welcome Butter to begin treatment. We were thrilled to see how Butters was responding to treatment, especially as he was suffering from the neurological form of the virus. After 21 days of treatment with great improvement, he went home to continue his care.

A mere six days later Butter Jr. was brought back to us in rough shape. We don't know the underlying reason, but he had lost weight, was jaundice, couldn’t hold his body temperature, was unable to eat and was dehydrated. We quickly jumped back to emergency care at the facility and then sought specialized veterinary care where he spent a week with constant care and the need for a feeding tube. At the end of that week Butter Jr. returned to us for critical care. It was very touch and go but Butter kept telling us, in his own way, to hang in there as he was really trying to beat this. And, well, look at him now! Here we are several months post-treatment and he is alive and thriving. And the best part, he is ready for a new home and family. At this point we're sure you're asking what of his prior family - well, while we cannot disclose specifics, we can say Butter Jr. is looking for a new home. No one can predict the future, and we certainly could not have predicted this, but we are happy that Butter Jr. is here for the long run and we are so proud of this boy and his will to live - he truly is a miracle kitty!
