Buster *FIV+ solo kitty's Story

***Buster had been living as an outdoor cat for some time and was quite anxious to come in from out of the cold! This boy may be a bit skittish at first, but once he warms up he will be your best cuddle buddy!

Meet Buster – the calm and gentle (not so big) giant!

Buster is a deeply sweet and cautious guy with a big heart, a playful spirit, and a headbutt that will melt your heart.

He came to his foster home in mid-November 2025 after spending a few years outside. He befriended a few households who identified him as a kind-hearted soul who seemed to really want to get inside. After just a few weeks in his foster home, he began to flourish – explore, trust, and play – and two months in, his beautiful personality is still emerging.

Buster does all the typical cat things like a champ: he eats well and moderately, drinks water, uses the litter without incident, seeks out affection, stretches, scratches appropriate posts and pads, and curls into a perfect ball to sleep in various “hidey holes” around the house.

Buster loves to play – especially with feathered toys, and he scurries up and down stairs with playful glee. His favourite feathered wand toy gets him crouching, hunting, leaping, and rolling on his back – he’s both lightning fast and hilariously clumsy.

Buster seeks out and enjoys connection. He watches his people move through the house, and unless in a deep sleep, will follow to be close, often hovering just out of reach. He likes to nuzzle, head butt and be pet, especially enjoying cheek scritches. He also makes known his boundaries and limits, and will move away if needed, or gently push your hand or a toy away with his paw.

Buster is FIV+, but that does not mean he can’t live a long and happy life — good nutrition, regular wellness exams and a strictly indoor-only lifestyle will help make sure he stays well.

Buster would thrive in a home full of life, love, and consistency – one that is not too loud or chaotic. Although he has not been exposed to other cats or dogs in the foster home, he may likely do well with another calm animal and possibly older children too. He is still fairly nervous, as sudden movements and loud noises prompt him to run away and hide.

A patient household will be rewarded with Buster’s “slow and steady wins the race” kind of life philosophy. Love and patience will allow him to build trust and gain confidence, and you will soon see his lovely and loving personality shine through.

Would you like to make Buster a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $250 for each adult cat 1 year or older. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
