Burly's Story

Hello future mom and/or dad,

My name is Burly, aka Burly Bunz. It’s very important that you know one thing about me… I am an absolute love machine once you get to know me!! Also, I am a proud member of the LICFS (Large & In Charge Feline Society), on account of my slightly oversized structure (trust me it’s all muscle).

I was recently adopted by CNY Cats and I have been to the vet for the full run down of shots, testing, microchipping, etc. I was previously neutered and CNY Cats has my previous vet records. Mrs. Vet thinks I’m around five years old, but we don’t know for sure.

Although this may scare off some of you not in the know, I am FeLV positive. Although, if it weren’t for the vet doing a blood test on me, you would never know that I am FeLV+, because I act like any other cat and don’t show any signs/symptoms of having any issues at all.

Here’s a quick google summary of what a FeLV+ cat means:
“Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) means it has a viral infection that can weaken its immune system and make it more susceptible to other illnesses. While there's no cure, with proper care, many FeLV positive cats can live for years in good health. Key management strategies include keeping the cat indoors, providing good nutrition, a low-stress environment, and regular veterinary care.”

You should know that FeLV is only contagious to cats, and it will never impact other animals or humans in any way. Although my people at CNY Cats think that I would do great with humans of any age, when it comes to other cats, I should really only associate with other FeLV+ cats, that way a non-FeLV cat doesn’t run the risk of testing positive as well. Anywho, if you have any questions on this more or less non-issue, feel free to have your people call my people and we can chat more about it.

Back to the important stuff! I have been with CNY Cats for a couple months now and I must say, I am a model citizen. I love being loved, and I’ll even throw a lick or two your way to show my appreciation. Although I am still not totally sure what this toy situation is all about, I have a couple good ones that I like to pounce on every now and then. When it comes to treats, let’s just say that I’m your guy when you have an extra one of five lying around!!

Although CNY Cats has given me a great part time home in my duplex suite, I cannot wait to be a part of a family where I can show you all the love I have to give!

The fine print: between vet bills, food, etc. my people have several hundred dollars into my adorable butt. For that reason, they are asking for a $100 donation to put back into the rescue to help save future felines. All donations are tax deductible since CNY Cats is a charitable 501c3.

Ps - My people want you to know that if things don’t work out for any reason, you can always bring me back to the rescue. All they ask is that you give it a genuine try, and if things don’t work out, they’d much rather take me back than have me end up in a not so great situation. But let’s be real, your heart wouldn’t let you take me back if you tried;-)

Pss – Ask my people for more adorable pics/vids (my originals were too large for the Petfinder site).

Sincerely,

Burly Bunz
