Buddy's Story

Meet Buddy! A goofy little guy with a signature blep and a new lease on life.
Buddy was an outdoor community cat living in Imperial Beach when his caretakers noticed something wasn’t quite right with his health when he was only licking the juice from wet food and his tongue was always hanging out. He went through the Feral & Friends clinic at Feral Cat Coalition for routine neuter and a thorough oral exam. The veterinarian uncovered Buddy had severe dental disease and caudal stomatitis, and is he had any chance for survival all of his teeth would need to come out, and he would need to become indoor only.

We scooped him up into foster care, booked his full mouth extraction surgery, and crossed our fingers. He seamlessly transitioned into being a house cat and he loves snuggles and soft donut beds. Buddy had all of teeth removed on July 11th! He is now fully recovered, and basically a brand new cat. Once quiet and uninterested in toys, he now chases and fetches like it's his full time job. His favorite thing is food! No teeth, no problem.

Buddy’s signature blep is what first made his caretakers take a closer look at his health, and it ended up changing everything for him. Now, that little tongue is his trademark, and probably the reason someone’s going to fall completely in love with him!

He’s a loyal little weirdo with the funniest expressions and surprise zoomies. He keeps us laughing, always. Buddy would do best as the only cat in the home. He likes his space when it comes to other felines, but with people, he’s all in!

Buddy is fully vetted : neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, toothless, and finally ready for adoption! He has detailed medical records, and he even received bloodwork prior to surgery and those results will be included.

Follow us on Instagram @ familiar.felines and learn more about our nonprofit organization at familiarfelines.org
