Buddy's Story

Buddy is a male brown and white tabby and is estimated to be 4 years old. Buddy was found outside in November 2024, crying and approaching people for food and help. He appears to have been an indoor cat who was either left behind or put outside. Buddy would not leave the front of a specific home, and we think that's where he once lived. Sam Saves Cats was notified of Buddy and we ran over to the location and scooped him up. Buddy was neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for illness. He is negative for FIV and FELV.

Buddy is a very friendly cat. He loves people, snuggling up and napping in your lap, and playing with toys. Buddy is very vocal and loves to tell you when he'd like some attention or a snack.

As sweet as Buddy is, he also gets overstimulated easily and can begin to play a little rough. We believe he was a single cat in his previous home and did not learn to properly play and behave as a kitten. He should go to a home with an experienced adopter who knows cat behavior and understand when he starts to play rough, it is best to stop petting him and redirect him to a toy to be rough with instead of people's hands. For this reason, we don't think he should go to a home with young children.

Buddy doesn't dislike other cats, but as stated above he can play a little rough for their liking. We think Buddy would do best as a single cat. He would be okay in a home with other larger male cats, as he seems to chase / bother the cats around who he perceives to be smaller than him. If you've got a big tough male cat in your home, that could be a fit as he seems to leave larger cats at the rescue alone.

If you're still reading this, Buddy may be the cat for you. He's an awesome boy who is misunderstood and was let down by whoever had him before he came to us. His behaviors are likely a result of abuse, neglect, and someone not knowing how to properly care for a cat. Buddy needs someone who will be patient with him and knows when play time is over, and it's time to walk away and let him play on his own. But when Buddy wants to cuddle, he is the sweetest boy and loves a good couch nap with his humans.
