Buck's Story
I’m the very embodiment of the happy go lucky, social, and spunky orange tabby boy. Nothing gets me down and I adjust quickly to just about any situation. What I do insist on is lots of Buck loving and attention. I am the life of any party, playful and just full of myself. Come into my room and I’ll greet you enthusiastically, anxious to strike up a friendship and perhaps a life long love affair. Soft as down and sweet as the orange sherbet color of my fur, I’m just the best of companions and friends.

Fall Update 2025: Buck is an amazing feline. Despite being FeLV+, he’s the oldest cat at CFC. He was born in early 2007 and arrived at CFC in 2010 when he was three years old. Like many cats, Buck has enjoyed the warm Virginia summer. He’s a regular denizen of the Observation Room Catio. I typically find him there, sound asleep. Indeed, he’s often unaware that I’ve come to visit so I have to wake him. Then, he stands up, stretches and gives me this look that says, “I’d appreciate a lift to your lap.” Once there, he goes into a slow-motion mode of getting comfortable. His legs ever so slowly extend and his body descends to lie down. Sometimes, this can take several minutes. Throughout our encounters, he seems to relish my petting him. He always finishes by gobbling treats from the palm of my hand. He's truly a sweetie! Of note, his monthly shot is alleviating his arthritis allowing him to once again enjoy some higher perches in his room.

Spring Update 2025: During the last month, BUCK has bestowed a great honor on me. When I enter his room, he emits a loud MEOW and follows me to a chair, ready to become a lap cat. While many CFC kitties are lap cats, Buck is the only one I know that gives me such a vocal greeting. I believe it’s a sign of growing trust. Or maybe it’s because I always carry treats in my pocket. Buck is the most persistent cat at trying to get to them. But he’s adorable when he eats them out of my hand. The oldest cat at CFC continues to be in good health. His monthly injection to manage his arthritis has made him more nimble although he still appreciates a boost onto my lap.

Volunteer August Mini Update 2024: Still a sweetie and one of the oldest cats at CFC despite being FeLV+. Despite the summer heat, he delights in snoozing on the Catio. Always welcomes loving attention and is a good lap cat.

Born: 2/3/07
Date of Arrival at CFC: 10/22/10
SENIOR MALE
FELV+
History: Due to circumstances beyond their control, Buck’s guardians could no longer care for him.
