Buck Tabby Palmyra, VA

I’m the very embodiment of the happy go lucky, social, and spunky orange tabby boy. Nothing gets me down and I adjust quickly to just about any situation. What I do insist on is lots of Buck loving and attention. I am the life of any party, playful and just full of myself. Come into my room and I’ll greet you enthusiastically, anxious to strike up a friendship and perhaps a life long love affair. Soft as down and sweet as the orange sherbet color of my fur, I’m just the best of companions and friends.

Volunteer August Mini Update 2024: Still a sweetie and one of the oldest cats at CFC despite being FeLV+. Despite the summer heat, he delights in snoozing on the Catio. Always welcomes loving attention and is a good lap cat.

Fall Update 2024: Buck retains his title of “The Sweetest Cat in the Observation Room.” However, during this past warm summer, he spent more time out on the Catio than inside. He never seemed to mind those hot days even with the temp in the 90s. He continues to be a Lap Cat Extraordinaire. He’s found an effective way to compete for a volunteer’s lap when Marble has already claimed it. He sits at your feet and gazes into your eyes with the most plaintive expression that clearly says, “PLEASE let me on your lap.” Being 17 years old and positive for FeLV (is that a longevity record?), Buck’s only noticeable health issue is likely a touch of arthritis in his right hind leg. He sometimes needs a little boost onto a lap.

Spring Update 2024: Now one of our oldest residents at 17 yrs of age,  BUCK continues to take one day at a time and no doubt, makes the most of each day.  A couple times a week,  his days are even a wee bit brighter as new volunteer Steve is stopping by and offering up his lap, his caring arms and soft voice to keep our good friend company.   Steve reports that Buck is second in friendliness in this room only to busy body, teen sensation Justice.  Buck is among the first to rush him when he enters the room and then closely hovers by him (competing for attention) as he makes the rounds to all the 4 leggeds in the room.  Already,  he's giving Steve his customary soft purr of contentment as he's pet and perhaps the biggest accolade bestowed on our sweet boy is that Steve has identified him as the "Sweetest cat in the room."  Ah....if only someone who had space and a need for Buck might please come and scoop up this gem of a cat asap!   Until then,  Buck is doing fine...no emerging health issues...and we'll enjoy chilling and hanging with him as the warmer temps descend upon us.
