Brooks's Story
Brooks is definitely a velcro kitty, known to follow their owner everywhere! He certainly loves his people and wants to be with them as they go throughout their day. Walking with you to the kitchen for a snack, hanging out on the couch while you binge watch your favorite series or keeping an eye on you while you read a book or put together a puzzle. Another common characteristic of a Velcro cat is being extremely affectionate, purring, head butts and being in close proximity to his favorite human. Are you up for the challenge? It would be beneficial if you understand cat body language. Brooks does tend to get overstimulated and act out by biting when he becomes over stimulated, afraid or annoyed. He will tell you briefly by flicking his tail or turning his ears back briefly then bite to let you know he has had enough. As a young adult cat, this is likely a behavior he will grow out of as he understands he is not being abandoned again. He just needs to gain confidence and feel assured that he’s not aloneSince Brooks is a rambunctious boy his new family will have to appreciate that and also know that he will need occasional correction as he’s learning boundaries. He will need very slow introductions to other pets in the home as he can exert his dominance, even though he hasn’t earned his place yet. In his first foster home he did well with the resident large dog and cat but in his second foster home, he wanted to chase down and attack the other cats when unexpected meetings occurred twice. Meet Brooks by completing our online adoption application. All cats are spayed/neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative.

All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information.

Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.

Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC.
