Brenda's Story
Brenda is a special cat who arrived as a kitten in mid 2024 and we quickly determined she had some unique medical issues. Brenda wasn’t growing at the same rate as her sibling and was drinking excessive amounts of water. Initially she was diagnosed with kidney issues which is not often seen in young cats. With treatment and time we thought she had made improvements and she found herself a home in the fall of 2025.

It was a great home, but unfortunately it wasn’t the right match for Brenda and she’s back with us again. Brenda did well at first but started to show her dislike for the man of the house and bullied the other cat. She was also diagnosed with diabetes insipidus which is rare in cats. Diabetes insipidus in cats is a rare condition where a cat’s body can’t properly control water balance. The cat can’t concentrate its urine
They drink a lot of water to avoid dehydration, but its not related to sugar or food, unlike diabetes mellitus. The brain doesn’t make enough of the hormone that tells the kidneys to save water. Currently Brenda is on medication to help and we will be monitoring her kidney function closely.

Brenda definitely is spunky girl and can be full of cattitude and let you know her feelings. Brenda would do best in an adult home with someone who’s a true cat person!
