Brad's Story
Meet Beguiling Brad

Beguiling Brad was found by my friend Bret, who lives on the northwest side of Grand Rapids. Bret and his wife are no strangers to caring for strays in their quiet, tucked-away neighborhood, but Brad was a newcomer—one they hadn’t seen wandering around before. When they brought him to me on October 27, 2025 to scan for a microchip, we were surprised to find that he was chipped. Even more surprising? He was registered through the Kent County Animal Shelter as a DOG. Unfortunately, attempts to backtrack through the system were unsuccessful, leaving us without answers as to where he originally came from.

What we were able to determine is that Brad is neutered, had been adopted out as a kitten, and was likely born around April 27, 2018. Beyond that, his past remains a mystery.

Brad arrived with a few medical concerns that needed attention. He had an oozing wound on his rear end that required antibiotics and was mildly anemic. Imaging also revealed an old right hip fracture in which the head of the femur had been completely transected from the neck of the bone. Thankfully, displacement was minimal, so Brad showed no obvious limp and did not appear painful. Over the following four weeks, his wound healed beautifully, his anemia resolved, and he continued to show no signs of discomfort related to the old fracture. Rest assured—should any pain or lameness ever develop, Brad will be promptly started on an appropriate pain-management protocol to keep him comfortable, agile, and limber.

Brad is a very social, easygoing guy who gets along nicely with other cats. He enjoys being around people, watching the birds at the feeders, and simply being part of whatever is going on around him.

He would thrive in just about any home—whether relaxing with a retired couple or running around and playing with kids. As far as I’ve seen, nothing really upsets him. Brad is, quite simply, a really great cat.
