Boxcat Betty's Story
Betty is looking for a quiet retirement home — and we truly believe her perfect match is a senior human for a senior cat.

Betty came into foster care last December after spending most of her life living alone in a drain under the street as part of a feral colony. She was one of the oldest cats there and was declining quickly, so our foster brought her inside as a hospice cat so she wouldn’t pass away alone.

But Betty surprised us all. With care from Aloha Kitty TNR and treatment at AAVS, she recovered — and now that she knows warmth and safety, we can’t send her back to the sewer she survived for so long.

Betty is incredibly sweet, gentle, and wonderfully quirky. She’s what we lovingly call a “hermit cat.” Give her a cozy box or bed and that becomes her whole world. She naps, watches the window, and quietly keeps you company.

Her favorite thing? Every time you pet her, she immediately purrs, stands up, and eats happily while leaning into your hand — then politely retreats back to her cozy space when you stop.

She:
Is friendly even with strangers
Coexists peacefully with other cats
Needs very little space (a small nook + window view is perfect)
Prefers calm homes and gentle companionship
Would not do well in busy adoption events like Petco

After years spent staring out from a sewer drain, Betty would love nothing more than a peaceful home, soft pets, and someone to grow old beside.

If you or a retired loved one are looking for a low-maintenance companion, Betty may be your perfect match.

She:
Is friendly even with strangers
Coexists peacefully with other cats
Needs very little space (a small nook + window view is perfect)
Prefers calm homes and gentle companionship
Would not do well in busy adoption events like Petco
After years spent staring out from a sewer drain, Betty would love nothing more than a peaceful home,
