Boxcar's Story
Say hello to Boxcar!

Boxcar comes to us with his brother, Racer. They are about 4 and a half months old (as of 9/15/25). These littermate brothers were found living in an old rowhome in Camden, NJ that had burned down and been left abandoned. If they were older, they probably would've been considered feral and just been TNRd, but because they were only a litter over a month old when found, our TNR friend decided to contact us and see how well they respond to socialization.

Boxcar is definitely the protector of the two. When we first met him, he was a hissy little man who was determined to scare us away. After a few sessions training with the wrangling gloves, he actually started to enjoy spending time with me! He gradually got less hissy and more playful, and after about a week and a half, we gave up on the gloves altogether and now he is used to me touching and handling him bare handed. He still gives little warning hisses when we first sees me (a boy has to assert his dominance! haha), but the biting, scratching, and attacking are distant memories. So he will give his little hiss to let me know who's boss, then fully accept head and butt scratches, and belly rubs. He is also really becoming an expert chaser of both the laser pointer andCat Dancer!

Boxcar has a really interesting coat. He is a grey tabby, but under certain light, he looks light grey, almost silver. In other lighting, he looks more of a brownish grey. Both are shown off well in the photos above. He also has these bold black accent stripes throughout his fur, which makes him look even extra cool!

Once you get past that small period of hissing when you first meet, and you ear his trust, Boxcar is a playful, rambunctious boy that loves to roll around, walk in figure eights in between your legs, and wrestle with his brother. He is also extremely food motivated, and loves squeezy treats!

Boxcar is fixed, vaccinated, and FIV/FelV negative. He is available now! We would love it if he got to stay with his brother, and will offer discounts to anyone willing to adopt Boxcar and Racer as a pair!

Apply now!
