10/1/04 Hi! I lost my housemate when she had to go to a nursing home. I'm a handsome guy (some would call me portly but I just say I'm big) that was born with only one eye. but I get around REAL well though!<br/>UPDATE-12/1/04-this wonderful, one-eyed, 9 yr old cat has had a very exciting life lately(much more so than mine!). He spent weeks at Centre Pet in JP charming every shopper that walked in. He was adopted locally by a woman who had another 9 yr old cat but her cat has always been an only cat and didn't like him. We were going to take him back when I got this email: "Hey there - just thought I'd fill you in on Borscht's situation. I am thrilled to let you know that he is very happy with a new owner who is head-over-heels about him. I hooked him up with my partner's mother's boyfriend. I know that's a bit convoluted - and to make the story more so - I paid for a new kitty<br/>carrier and an on-board plane ticket for him(escorted<br/>by family) to California where his new owners live and are total pet-people. They had a new bed waiting for him. His journey is complete. I feel great about it and<br/>wanted you to know." Well we feel great about it too! So many older animals who are taken away from the elderly and mentally ill when they are moved on to higher care facilities are euthanized. Until there's an old age home for animals too, we have a lot of work to do to keep these wonderful, mature pets alive.
