Bookie's Story

Bookie is an incredibly sweet little cat with a tough past but a bright future.

This 3-year old girl was found abandoned in a bodega, months after the bodega had been evicted from the premise. The only reason neighbors even discovered her down in the empty building basement was because a water main broke in the building and they needed access to repair it. Thankfully, a kind friend of the former store owners had been leaving her food periodically so the only thing she was starved for was love, care and affection.

Now, Bookie is leaning into all the pleasure that life as a house cat has to offer and she's never looking back! Her fosters describe her as incredibly playful and friendly. "Every night when I come home, she immediately comes running up to greet me, with the cutest little meows while circling my legs," they say. She loves soaking in your affections, head butting your hands for pets, and rolling over to show her belly in the most enticing way!

At just 3-years old, Bookie has a youthful spirit and loves to play. Her current favorite toy is the wand ribbon dancer, which she loves batting and chasing. A funny quirk her fosters have discovered is that when she is excited, she'll rise up onto her back legs and rub against nearby objects, hopping like a little kangaroo in a tuxedo.

With love and energy to spare, Bookie would likely thrive in a home ready to shower her with affection. She is a resilient and adaptable sweetheart and would mesh well with almost any family situation - whether you're a single, a couple, or a household with small children. Bookie gets along well with other cats and will likely do just fine with gentle, friendly dogs.

Bookie has been spayed and microchipped, is up to date on vaccines, has been treated for fleas/parasites, and is negative for FIV and FeLV.

To learn about her and our adoption process please fill out our application: https://forms.gle/Utca7T8qX9kcw6JKA
