BOO's Story

BOO
SMAS ID #A085196
Currently being cared for in a foster home in Gilroy, CA.
Please contact laurelclindner@gmail.com for more information.

A rough start to life. Born on the streets in Gilroy, CA. Joined a managed community cat colony for food and protection. Found running under cars in dangerous parking lot traffic. Captured so she could be socialized and adopted-out instead of living as a stray, scrounging for her very existence and survival. Yeah, another life saved! Her fostermom took-on the challenge of socializing a kitten not used to human contact, but endearing nonetheless. The first step was to give her a name, an identity. Boo became Boo not because she was scary, but because she reminded her fostermom of the innocent, scared, and eventually trusting little girl who Sully, the monster in the movie Monsters, Inc., protected, lovingly took care of, and returned home despite many difficulties. This describes Boo to a T - transformed from scared to trusting by love.

Born in April 2019, Boo is a healthy dilute tortoiseshell DSH female with a little gold spot on her head. Maybe it’s a sign of her promise and progress, like kids get in elementary school. A shiny gold star for Boo to show how far she came. Aloof? Hardly. You can pick her up with no problem, she leans-in for lovin’, and rubs against you for attention. She especially likes pets around her ears, rubs on her chin, and scritches on her butt. Sometime she hikes her butt so high into the air that we think she’ll fall over! She achieved the tail-high-greeting stage, and now, happily welcomes her fostermom each day. Her biggest joy? She absolutely LOVES laps, and as you see in her photo, will pin her fostermom down for long cuddle sessions. Her fostermom humorously describes Boo as a blob, not your typical crazy kitten at all. When her fostermom goes into her room, Boo waits lazily in her bed to be picked-up (why overexert yourself? Ha-ha!), then immediately curls-up in her lap for another round of lovin’. If you want a snugglebug to watch TV or read a book with, Boo’s your kitty. Her second favorite joy? Being brushed. She’ll reward you with a loud purr or a soft meow after grooming. She’s learning what toys are for, and is particularly interested in the wand (although is more interested in the cord than the attached toy), feather, sparkly, and bouncy ball types. She’s still spooked a bit by sudden movements (hence our recommendation for no small children), but ironically, loud noises don’t bother her. Although still a bit shy, she’s a sweet lapcat that just wants to be loved, petted, and fed. What more is there in life? So if you have hands to love her; quiet time to share; a warm, cozy bed; and wet food, Boo will easily fit right into your home and family.

Adopting a kitten is a 10-20 year commitment; is beneficial because they readily adapt to a new home; and will provide many years of love, devotion, entertainment, and companionship. Boo’s ideal human companions are those who understand the quiet nature of a kitten born outside, give her time to adjust to life in a new home, and will happily include her in their daily activities. She’ll do best in a quiet, adult-only home (no young active children) with another furry buddy, maybe even her sister DeeDee. With a loving family, she’ll be a wonderful and constant companion for life.

Boo is dewormed, deflead, is fully vaccinated (FVRCP and rabies), spayed, and microchipped for identification. She eats well, uses her litterbox, and must be indoors-only.

If you would like to meet Boo; need more information about adopting her; or if you adopt her and would like to keep in touch with her fostermom who loves pictures and updates, please contact laurelclindner@gmail.com.

Thank you for reading about Boo. :)

Updated 10/10/19
