<p>Meet Bogie, an affectionate and intelligent cat with a personality all his own! Adopted as a kitten through ARPO, he was sadly returned due to family health issues and is now searching for his true forever home.</p><br/><br/><p>Bogie has done well in a quiet foster home, but he also enjoyed the energy of a lively householdhe lived comfortably with active teens and previously got along well with a small dog. He might enjoy the company of a playful, respectful dog with proper introductions, though he would also be quite content as your one and only. Bogie would do best in a home with no kids under 12. He spent most of his life in a home without other cats but encounters resident female cats through a gate in his foster home without a problem. He is very fearful of storms and fireworks.</p><br/><br/><p>Bogie still enjoys his fishing pole, although these days he doesn't play with it for quite as long. He seems much calmer and content, and some of his favorite things are rolling around in the sunshine by the patio window, lounging on his kitty tower, and watching the birds outside. He also enjoys sitting beside you on the couch and, every now and then, settling in for some lap time. Bogie loves what we call the "treat game"running across the floor to chase treats that are tossed for him. He recently had a spa day at the groomer, where he got a bath, brushing, ear cleaning, and even had his teeth brushed. He handled it all like a champ!</p><br/><br/><p>While Bogie has many affectionate qualities, he does have boundaries and needs an experienced cat owner who understands feline body language. He was previously enrolled in a vet-recommended behavioral training program to reduce nipping, particularly to hands around his face. He's made great progress, with no nipping for several months. He does not mind being picked up or carried and, as cats go, he is easy to put in a carrier. He enjoys being brushed but can easily get overstimulated and will let you know. Although he tries to pull away, he tolerates ear cleaning and nail trimming.</p><br/><br/><p>As part of his training, Bogie is learning positive reinforcement techniques and has mastered sit and target (touching an object with his nose for a treat). He sits on command with verbal or visual hand cues. He's incredibly smart and benefits from enrichment activities that challenge and engage him.</p><br/><br/><p>Bogie's birthday is July 24, 2019.
