Bogart's Story

Poor Bogart's life is a complete mystery. He was found outdoors with urine stains/burns which left his entire lower half of his body raw. He will require a patient and gentle owner who is willing to work with him to bring out his true colors. With time Bogart could possibly adjust to a home setting. It is unlikely Bogart will ever be a lap cat but he is a beautiful boy that still deserves a home, preferably with another kitty because he likes to cuddle (just not humans). He does not want pets or human contact at this time, but he licks a smooth bisque type food or a squeeze up.

Due to his life on the streets, Bogart tested FIV POSITIVE. FIV+ does NOT require daily medications nor impact his quality of life. Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is ONLY passed through deep bite wounds between cats and cannot be passed to other animal species or humans. FIV kitties can live with, share food bowls, litter boxes, groom and wrestle with non FIV housemates with no risk of transmission. However Bogart does have a history of stomatitis and gets daily medication for that, a low cost steroid and a pain medication in liquid form. Bogart is a trip to medicate! We recommend a thick glove and a gentle hand, you can slowly sneak the oral syringe into his mouth like an airplane but there is a chance he will give you a smack for your troubles.

Bogart is estimated to be around 5 years old, UTD on vaccinations, neutered and FIV POSITIVE and FELV NEGATIVE.

If you are interested in Bogart and want to give him a chance, please fill out a feline adoption application on our website, https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=meridenhumanesociety&method=online_form_html&formid=28. We would ask that folks interested in Bogart meet with him a couple times to make sure you know his personality before taking him home.
