Blink's Story

Hi, my name is Blink, and I am a nine-month-old Siamese mix boy with quite the story to tell.

I was listed for euthanasia at the Houston BARC Animal Shelter. Outside of having ear mites and ringworm, I was born with Microphthalmia, causing abnormally small eyes and painful entropion (inward turning eyelids). My life would have ended before it truly began at that scary place, but the kind humans with the Austin Siamese Rescue knew I was worth saving. For that, I will forever be grateful.

I recently underwent surgery to remove my eyes. I didn't need them anyway.

My foster mama always calls me a super smart boy because of how quickly I figure things out. I adjust to new people and animals a little more slower than a normal kitten because not everyone understands how to approach me. My foster mama says it's best to greet me like a dog and slowly offer your hand for me to sniff before petting me. I like being talked to so I can follow the sound of your voice with my big, radar ears. I do enjoy being petted, but never from someone who comes up from behind me without warning. That's super scary and so rude!! As long as I know you are about to touch me, I am totally fine with it.

I feel the same way about meeting new animals. I love having feline friends, but it has to take slow introductions to new cats because they don't understand that I can't see them coming up to me, nor can I see them putting their nose where it doesn't belong! Again, so rude! Once we start to understand each other, it becomes a lot easier, and I start to love playing with my cat friends.

My favorite toys are spinning balls, crinkly balls, and loud toys that make fun noises like mice and bird sounds, and just about anything I can chase well using my ears. I also love silvervine sticks! I love to explore new environments. My foster mama constantly praises me for being such a brave and clever boy. I even figured out how to get in and out of the catto all on my own! (You try that blindfolded and tell me how easy it is!)

Being blind doesn't slow me down one bit. I am an active, healthy, loving little boy with so much personality.

If you have any questions about me, please reach out today, and my foster mama will be happy to share more about me with you.

Could you be my once-in-a-lifetime purrrfect forever family?
