Blanket was rescued from a parking lot where she had been dumped in the beginning of the coldest days. She survived hiding underneath a blanket by a heating pipe for over a week. We never met a more sensitive kitty. She was so terrified, and has clearly had trauma from humans. In spite of all she had been through, beautiful Blanket finds her courage and shows us quickly how affectionate and craving affection she is. Blanket is very loving with her humans, is learning to play and enjoys a snuggle. She is fine with dogs and may prefer to be the only kitty in the home. We are still learning. She is fully vaccinate and fixed and ready for her forever home. She is a beautiful cali-tabby mix, a very unusual lady.

Be The Change Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy

We send out an application. If someone is a match for one of our animals, we set up virtual and/or in-person meetings for the adopters and potential furry companions. The next step is a home check to ensure doors, windows, plants, fireplaces, etc. are animal friendly. Then we check personal references to verify identity, including, if applicable, a vet who has seen the adopter's previous animals. Lastly, we bring the animal in person to do a final check of the home environment. We stay in close contact for the first few weeks. If any issues arise, we support the adopter as needed. And we will always take an animal back should things not work out for any reason.

We are a small group of rescuers in Central Harlem helping to vet and home abandoned and injured animals.
