Bisby's Story

NAME: BISBY
Sex: Male neutered
Color/Pattern: white and black
Breed (s): Domestic long hair
Weight: Big
Age: 2 years
BDAY approx: March 24, 2024
Coat length: LOOONNNGGG

Description
Bisby is a Fluffy, Poofy, massive cat. Very handsome and a little shy. He knows he is beautiful. Bisby is animated and big boned, with VERY long white fur with black patches.

Personality
Bisby is a professional ankle rubber. He is big and buff, and a bit of a hog. He is extremely food motivated and looks you in the eye and meows for more! He runs to the bowl and butts any other cat over to get his head in first. He is good about sharing after he has had his first bite- even though he is the biggest and could easily bully them away from the bowl if he wanted to. Bisby needs other cats around. He currently lives in his foster home with 3 other foster cats and gets along very well with them. He loves to play chase and explore other rooms with them. He is hesitant about new things but watches and learns from the more outgoing cat he lives with and follows him around. He gets excited when you come into the room, and jumps down to pose and posture for you by your feet, so you can admire him. He will stop what he is doing and push his head into your hand if you reach down so you will scratch his head. He likes cuddles on your lap so you will keep scratching. Butt scratches are welcome too. He draws the line at hugs, but will tolerate one if it is quick and you put him down immediately so he can give you the side eye for humiliating him like that.
Bisby is communicative too. He watches you and reads your body language. Pretty sure he understands English. He acts smart like that, then makes decisions that seem a bit odd. You can almost see the wheels spinning in his head. He understands where you want him to go and goes there. Verbally he is intelligent. His timing might be off. Like why did you just run straight smack into my ankles? He may have a bit of a lack of self confidence that hinders him, but he makes up for it in curiosity.

Background
Bisby's mother, Maddie, gave birth to 4 kittens in a planter in a front yard in Katy. They were found at 1 day old. Their finder raised them with their momma in her bathroom. When the finder's health took a turn for the worse, a friend brought the kitty family to a GNAR foster home when the kittens were 3 months old.

Compatibility
Dogs - yes, from a distance
Cats - yes please, best in a multi cat household because it brings him out of his shell
Kids - yes, older

If you are interested in meeting me, please contact my rescue family at GNARHouston@gmail.com. We can arrange a visit at Petsmart.

Good Neighbors Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
Adoption Policy Visits are available by Video chat with the adoptable pet's foster home (Facetime or Zoom). Email us at GNARAnimalRescue@gmail.com and we will get you in direct contact with the volunteer who fosters the pet you are interested in. GNAR is all foster home based and volunteer run. We don't have a facility for visiting animals, but pets are fostered and socialized in home settings by volunteers. This makes our adoption process more personal, as every foster home knows their adoptable pets well, and keeps our overhead costs to a minimum. Email us at GNARAnimalRescue@gmail.com to foster, donate or volunteer. All adoptions require an application to be submitted and screened. After approval, payment of an adoption donation holds the pet for you. It takes about 2-3 days to complete the application process, from initial inquiry to pick up of the pet. Email us at GNARAnimalRescue@gmail.com to request an Adoption or Foster2Adopt application to be sent to you. All adoptions are conducted at a local pet store.
