Birdie's Story

Birdie has lived a life a of non stop desperation and is so ready to find her people! As the temps turned frigid in January just before the Big Storm, she found herself in a Wawa parking lot in North Philadelphia, judging drivers who had stopped to get a sandwich or pick up a cup of coffee. She couldn’t remember how long she had been there anymore, but she was tired of being cold and hungry and she knew the gusts of freezing air that night could mark the end of her time and bring her death. One driver had a little girl with them. They seemed cheerful and kind. Birdie decided death was not her only option to end her suffering in that parking lot, she boldly cried for their attention and ran up to their car. When they pivoted to see her, she leapt into the warmth of their running vehicle!

Birdie LOVES people!! Even though they have failed her and left her on her own in the cold. Birdie was microchipped and definitely had a home before. Sadly, no one had registered her microchip and so no one came forward to claim her. We shall never know how she came to be in a Wawa parking lot, starving for food, attention and warmth but she is now safe and well fed!

The last missing puzzle piece her life needs is a home!

Birdie currently is in a foster home with other cats and dogs and while she is grateful to be safe, she would really appreciate having a family where she can have all the human(s) to herself!

Pretty little Birdie loves people and cannot wait to meet you!

https://www.familiarhearts.org/adoptable-pets

Familiar Hearts Animal Society's Adoption Policy
We always have potential adopters fill out our adoption application first so we can first vet them and make sure we approve of them as adopters before then inviting them to meet the animal(s) they are interested in. We feel this not only saves time for our fosters, it helps us get to know the applicant better and better be able to match them with the potential pet that is best for them. We always make sure everyone has a lot of time to deeply consider the adoption before finalizing it. The adoption is considered finalized after the adoption contract is reviewed and signed and the fee is paid. We then tranfer all the vet records and microchip information to the new family. We also offer behavioral support before and after adoption and one free training session with our dog trainer for dog adopters.
