MEET BIRDIE! <br/>Birdie is a tiny senior lady, around 16 years old, with the sweetest little voice-she sounds so much like a bird when she meows that we simply had to name her Birdie! She's gentle, affectionate, and looking for one very special thing: a wonderfully spoiled retirement.<br/>Birdie lived in the same home her entire life until her human sadly passed away this spring. What happened next is pretty incredible. A friend of her human, who was experiencing homelessness himself, stayed at the property and cared for Birdie for four months. The first photo we received showed a terribly matted little cat, but months later, when we realized she was still there and asked someone to go get her, they discovered something remarkable-nearly every mat was gone. This kind gentleman had patiently cared for her and kept her safe. He is the reason Birdie survived long enough to make it to Whiskers. <br/>Now it's Birdie's turn to be cared for. She has had a complete dental and senior bloodwork, and for a girl her age, she's doing remarkably well! She has some arthritis that is managed with gabapentin and early kidney disease that will need continued monitoring and proper nutrition. She currently eats a kidney-friendly diet of Weruva Wx and Forza10, both available over the counter, and her adopter will need to continue her kidney-friendly food.<br/>Birdie doesn't need much-just a soft place to land, gentle hands, lots of love, and all the delicious wet food a senior lady could possibly want. After losing the only home she ever knew and being given an extraordinary second chance by a kind human who refused to leave her behind, this precious old girl deserves to be completely adored for every day she has ahead.
