Binx (Flower)'s Story

Binx is two years old and has been living with her Mum in a single room for most of her life. Now that she has the full run of the house, she is blossoming into a fun-loving playmate. She is still a bit skittish, but her foster mom is working on her socialization.

Binx is a big girl, about the size of a Maine Coon but with short hair. She loves looking out windows, so she would appreciate having perches at active windows where things are happening outside. Her favourite toys are the 'flying' type and balls on the ground that make no sound, such as sponge and sparkle balls.

Binx wants to play 'tag' and 'catch me, catch me' with her birth Mum, unfortunately Mum is not amenable at this time, but we assume that Binx would be OK with other cats after the right introduction. Unclear about dogs, but with the right introduction, it might work, especially if the dog likes to play. Children would need to be old enough to be gentle at first and give her space and time until she builds trust with them and continues to become a more confident lady. At two years old, she is still very kittenish and loves to play! Yeah!

Come meet Binx and see what a wonderful addition to your home she could make.

Origin story: Two years ago, one of our San Antonio rescuers was walking to her mailbox when she saw something black and white on the middle of the street- she thought it was a rag or a piece of clothing. When she got close she realized it was a cat- a very, very skinny cat that she thought had been run over because it's eyes were closed. As she reached down to touch it, it opened its eyes and it was alive! The cat allowed the rescuer to pet her and then got up and followed her to the mailbox. There she went into the bushes behind the mailboxes and came out again. The rescuer paid attention and saw five small kittens hidden in the bushes. The rescuer understood that she was asking for help, to help all of them.

Diamond (black with white diamond on chest), the Mum, was on the brink of death from starvation, but with tender love and care she recovered. Four of the kittens were adopted to family and friends in San Antonio. Binx (all black, formerly Flower) is the last kitten and has lived together with Mum Diamond in their rescuer's "cat room" for almost two years. They are both good cats but are ready for their own individual homes!

Binx was named after the lovable character in Hocus Pocus. She still needs more socialization but her Denver foster has been working on that, with help from her cat loving community, and she's getting better every day and gaining trust!

Binx has made the journey up from San Antonio, Texas to Colorado and is being fostered in Denver, available to meet. Wouldn't you like to bring some magic into your home?

Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa.

Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio.
