Billy Bob's Story

Please read Billy Bob's bio, requirements for adoption and if you think he would be a good fit then go to avacats.org and fill out an online application form. An adoption co ordinator will be in touch.<br/>July 23rd, 2025 - Billy Bob came in to our rescue back in April. He had shown up in a colony that a volunteer was trying to help. He came in with Upper Respiratory Infection, flea dermatitis, ear mites, and needed some TLC. Now that he has been treated for everything and his fur is slowly growing back he is ready to find his new forever home. He has been flea treated twice, dewormed several times, received his FVCRP and rabies vaccines and microchipped. He also had a dental cleaning and a broken tooth removed. His preop blood work came back all values in normal range. The vet estimated him about 4 years old - Since he was an un neutered male from a colony he was viral tested as well. He came back as FIV positive. FIV is Feline Immunodeficiency Virus - a virus transferable by deep penetrating bite wounds, not casual encounters. It can not be passed to humans or dogs. This means that if he gets a cold it may take him a bit longer than a non FIV cat to recuperate . His quality of life remains the same . He needs to be kept indoors, go to the vet for annual exams fed good quality cat food and he can live a long and healthy life like any other cat you may come across. Don't cross him off your list of adoptable cats, because he will make you just as happy! It is recommended he be the only cat in the house BUT studies show that FIV cats can live among non FIV cats if they are all non aggressive or if you are looking for a companion for another FIV cat. Please read up on FIV a much misunderstood virus. Billy Bob's foster mom says that he is very friendly, playful, doesn't mind being picked up , loves to be cuddled. He would be best in a quieter family home. He is thriving now and has a clear preference for human interaction. He is however tolerant of other nice felines with proper introduction. His adoption fee is $250. AVA has an indoor and no declaw policy. He is in a foster home in the Hamilton area.
