Save The Kittehs's Adoption Policy
All adoptions are subject to a home or barn check, to ensure their environment is as safe as possible, and provide support regarding what each animal requires in their environment. Initially, any potential adoptee would apply for any animal they are interested in. Young kittens must either be adopted in pairs, or potential homes should have at least one cat that is of a similar age. More independent adolescents or adult cats may be placed in single cat households, if we deem it is suitable for that particular animal. A meet and greet visit will be arranged, to see how the potential new owner, and animal, interact with each other and see if the animal would be a good fit for them and their family. We ask for Vet references and once we contact them, to ensure current and former pets are/were cared for and up to date on vaccinations etc, then we will proceed with the home visit. Once that has been completed, we can then move forward with placing the animal in its new home. All adoptive homes MUST agree to NEVER declaw a cat, unless medically necessary. Unless stated in the animal's profile, all cats should be kept as indoor only pets! When placing a barn cat, they must have adequate shelter, food and water for all seasons, and follow the placement protocol, in order to have the best chance of them wanting to stay around and provide fee pest control. If any adoption, does not work out, the owner MUST contact us as we will either attempt to find a more suitable home or screen any potential adopters that the current owners would like the animal to go to. If an animal goes missing, the owners should contact us ASAP, so that we may be able to assist in finding the animal.
