BESS's Story
MEET BESS! No, we are not adopting out furry little aliens (...we don't think?) but yes, Bess definitely looks like one! Bess and her siblings came to us as sick, scared baby strays that just needed a break. Growing up in a shelter environment is never easy, but it is much more difficult when your first interactions with people are receiving lifesaving medicine, but you don’t understand that the humans are just trying to help. This little family has made so much progress in our care, but can still be weary of people. That's why we are looking for special homes for them – ones where patience and understanding don’t have a time limit. These babies need someone who understands that love isn’t always instant, but sometimes earned. That love that is earned might just be more rewarding with the bond you build with quality time. These kiddos would absolutely thrive in a patient, quiet home with a family that is willing to give them time to decompress at their own pace. Consistency in their routine, gentle interaction, and a lot of love and patience is going to be their ticket to success. If you have some patience in your heart and a little extra time on your hands to help a kitten realize you are their safety, consider adopting one of these project kittens! Her beautiful green and orange eyes might be the size of saucers, but her personality is even bigger. Bess absolutely loves other cats and would do wonderfully as an addition to an existing cat home. Since she is still a little nervous, having another cat to learn and gain confidence from would benefit her a lot! While she may shy from your touch initially, Bess is learning that people are pretty great! Bess is FIV/FeLV negative, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, microchipped, spayed, and ready for her safe place to land! Complete an adoption survey at https://cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/petadoptionsurvey. All Adoptions require a Pre-Adoption Interview with a YCAS Adoption Counselor, a meet and greet, and adoption approval. Every adoptable cat is Spayed or Neutered, implanted with a microchip, current on age appropriate vaccinations including a current 1 year Rabies Vaccination, and current on monthly Flea/tick prevention. All pets are behaviorally and medically evaluated prior to being placed up for adoption. The adoption fee is $77.
