Bert's Story

Bert is a gentle, soft-hearted boy who is still finding his confidence. He can be a little shy at first, but he's still easy to handle and settles nicely once he knows he's safe. With a bit of patience and reassurance, you'll start to see his affectionate side shine through. While he's not immediately a "pick me up and cuddle me all day" type, we suspect that as he continues to feel secure, his cuddly side may grow. He already shows he enjoys affection when he's comfortable, leaning into pets and soaking up love in his own quiet way. Bert really blossoms around other cats feline friends seem to boost his confidence and help him feel at ease. Because of that, he would thrive in a home with one or two other friendly cats. He has a little playful streak too, especially once he's relaxed and feeling happy. He would likely do well with respectful children and would be happiest in a medium-energy household somewhere calm but not too quiet, where he can continue building his confidence at his own pace. If you have a friendly feline companion and are looking for a sweet, gentle addition to your family, Bert may be the perfect match for you.
Thank you for your interest in adopting with SOS Prairie Rescue.

Our cats are foster-based and available to meet by approved application.

To learn more, view additional adoptable cats, or submit an application, please visit: www.sosprairierescue.com/adopt

SOS Prairie Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
SOS Prairie Rescue’s adoption policies are designed to ensure safe, responsible, and lifelong placements. All adopters must complete an application and participate in a review process that considers the needs of both the cat and the adopter’s household. We prioritize appropriate matches based on lifestyle, environment, and the individual cat’s temperament and needs. Adoption contracts are required and include mandatory spay/neuter, veterinary care standards, and a commitment to humane treatment. Adoption fees help offset veterinary and care costs. We provide adopters with guidance, education, and ongoing support, and require that cats be returned to SOS Prairie Rescue if an adoption cannot be maintained. Our goal is to place cats in stable, permanent homes while supporting adopters every step of the way.
