This rescue mission broke my damn heart...I tried to keep them together, but ultimately couldn’t.<br/><br/>MEET BELLA <br/>Bella’s whole world has been turned upside down.<br/><br/>Her owner was going through significant mental health struggles, and when I became involved, the hope was to keep them together. I personally cared for Bella for a couple of weeks while he tried to get back on his feet. Unfortunately, he ultimately lost his housing, and keeping Bella was no longer an option.<br/><br/>When I first went into Bella’s home, there was a sign taped to the refrigerator that stopped me in my tracks:<br/><br/>“If anything should happen to me, please call my friend... about my cat. CAT NOT TO GO TO SHELTER.”<br/><br/>We called that friend, sadly they already tried to take Bella but their cat was not nice to her.<br/><br/>If there was ever proof that an animal can be surrendered without ever being unwanted, this was it.<br/><br/>Bella wasn’t unwanted. She was very, very loved. <br/><br/>Now, at nine years old, this incredibly sweet girl is trying to understand why everything familiar to her has changed.<br/><br/>Bella is currently at the Glitter Box Cat Lounge in Portland, where you can go spend some time with her. She’ll look up at you with those big eyes and give you the tiniest, quietest little meow asking for attention. She is incredibly sweet, and you can tell she’s still sad and confused by how much her life has changed. You can see it in her eyes. <br/><br/>Please go visit her. Sit with her. Give her some love. Remind her that even though she lost the life she knew, she hasn’t been forgotten.<br/><br/>Her first person loved her enough to make sure she would be safe if he couldn’t be there for her.<br/><br/>Now we need to keep that promise. <br/><br/>Please share Bella and help us find her next chapter.
