BEAN's Story

Sweet Bean is a big kitty, a big scaredy kitty and we heard, a big clingy kitty. After Bean's mom (owner) passed away, he and three others from the home landed with us at the shelter. Bean's other family member said that he loves to snuggle, that it takes him a while to get used to new situations/places/people so he hides until he gets acclimated and knows he is safe. Bean grew up with other cats, but is not a fan of dogs or small kids, they scare him. Bean wants a mom or dad that will let him snuggle all the time and be his new emotional support human.The Haywood County Animal Services Adoption Center is located at 453 Jones Cove Road, Clyde, NC 28721. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday 12pm - 5pm and Saturday 12pm - 4pm. Closed Sundays. Here is a detailed overview of our adoption procedure and requirements: Adoption Application Process The adoption process begins with a verbal Q&A session conducted by our trained Adoption Counselors. This takes place when you visit our facility and meet the animals available for adoption. Our counselors are dedicated to helping you find the perfect match based on your lifestyle and preferences. Adoption Criteria To ensure a successful adoption, we have established a few important criteria: Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to adopt an animal. Identification: A valid photo ID is required for verification purposes; i.e. State, Military or Passport ID. Adoption Fee: The adoption fee must be paid in cash or by check, as we currently do not have the capability to accept debit or credit card payments. Completing the Adoption Once both you and the Adoption Counselor agree on the best furry fit for your family, the following steps will be completed: Paperwork: Our Adoption Counselor will handle all necessary paperwork, ensuring you leave with all required documents. Documents Provided: Adoption Contract: You will receive a copy of the Adoption Contract to sign, along with a copy for your records. Rabies Certificate and Rabies Tag: This document certifies that your new pet is up-to-date on rabies vaccinations. Medical History: You will receive a record of your pet's medical history, providing transparency and peace of mind. Spay/Neuter Receipt: Proof of spay or neuter surgery through the ASPCA or Haywood County Animal Services Adoption Fee Receipt: A receipt of the adoption fee payment for your records.
