Baxter's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

OHHH Baxter!! This guy is one of a kind for sure. He is the kitty that very much gives us a run for our money (we are volunteers so we are actually not getting any money but you know what we mean). Baxter is like that kid you knew in grade school that normally got in trouble all the time, and even got YOU in trouble sometimes but you and everyone else still liked him anyway. You remember that kid, the one that made you laugh and kept life interesting, well that is our Baxter. He has the cutest face, he loves attention, and loves to play. He loves to snuggle, he is good to be carried, and will follow you anywhere as long as you let him. That is when Baxter sometimes gets himself in a little trouble. Sometimes he gets very excited when playing and cannot control his emotions or excitement to have your attention, and sometimes in that situation Baxter bites. Unfortunately for Baxter, he grew up as a single kitten so he never learned how to nibble or play bite like they do when they are with other kittens, and so Baxter sometimes bites a little too hard. This is part of "single kitten syndrome" and it is real and why we require young kittens to be adopted in pairs or in a home with other young cats. Baxter didn't learn all the things he needed to know as a kitten and we believe it is contributing to his "issue". Baxter instantly regrets his unintentionally painful "love bite" and always seems apologetic. He will give you "ques" that most of the volunteers have learned when it is time to encourage Bax to take a time out.

**Baxter encourage an experienced adopter, and we would strongly suggest NO young children** We do believe once Baxter is in a home with his family this issue may completely resolve itself as he is also over stimulated by all of the other cats at the shelter, some also like to "poke the bear" for their own entertainment. He is a great cat that deserves a second chance at a great life! He is sooooo cute and soooo loving. He would truly make a wonderful companion for the right person that is willing to take a chance on this guy! A little patience and positive training would go a long way with Baxter. He really seems eager to please and VERY eager to be loved!

He has been fixed, utd on vaccines, microchipped, and is ready to go!

If you'd like to meet this little guy please submit an online adoption application at littleorphans.org Give our Adoption Team a little bit to process all the info, check vetting (if applicable), and references. They will communicate primarily thru email, so keep an eye on your inbox and spam folder. Upon approval one of our volunteers will call you to arrange a private appointment for a Meet & Greet.
