Baxter's Story

Baxter . Our imperfect perfection. ?Baxter came to us in early November after being shot trying to survive on the streets . He additionally suffered repeated attacks by another cat at a feed station he had found causing him to test positive for FIV, a condition that is only spread through deep deep puncture wounds and bites that causes a lowered immune system and delayed healing. He has persevered through a surgery where the initial infection had to be cleaned out and was all the way into his bone. He has had EXTENSIVE vetting and saw an orthopedic specialist at veterinary specialities in Patersonville . Baxter’s leg has a very old fracture and is the main reason he limps like he does . The specialist explained why this is something that cannot be corrected because of how old the injury is . Amputation would be cruel and not recommended since his overall quality of life seems to be very good . He runs , jumps , plays in his foster home and has learned to live with the leg as is and can do everything any other cat can do . He is finally READY to find his forever chapter . He is aged at 8-10, had repeat full bloodwork panels. Extensive work up and vetting has been done . Baxter LOVES other cats . He has dog friends too! He enjoys gentle respectful well behaved children . He is the full package and a complete mush and a lap love extraordianre . Today begins the search for his happy ending and family . We want the very best for this guy who is very special to us . After all he has been through we refuse to fail him too.
