BATTENBERG's Story

Meet Battenberg 💛
Battenberg’s bio is long overdue—but in a way, that delay has been a gift. It’s given this 5-year-old gentleman time to truly settle in, decompress, and show us exactly who he is: a resilient, affectionate sweetheart who simply wants to love and be loved.

Born around late summer of 2020, Battenberg is FIV+ and came to us having clearly endured far too much. Despite being beaten and battered, he arrived gentle, trusting, and eager to soak up every bit of care and kindness offered to him—earning his name almost immediately.
Not long after his arrival in late September, Battenberg developed stomatitis, a condition common in FIV+ cats. He underwent a dental procedure to remove all teeth caudal to the canines and now requires ongoing immunosuppressive treatment to keep the condition managed. The good news? He is happy, comfortable, and his oral pain is controlled well. In fact, Battenberg has embraced life with enthusiasm—grooming himself with gusto and even lovingly tending to the coats of nearby feline friends within tongue’s reach.
Since finding relief from pain, Battenberg has blossomed into an outgoing, social guy and has formed an especially touching bond with Punxsutawney Phil. These two big boys are inseparable—often found curled up together, leaning into one another, or quietly sharing space like old souls. Punxy, who was returned in late fall 2025 due to being a bit too intense for gentler cats, has found his perfect match in Battenberg. Together, they balance each other beautifully. Battenberg, meanwhile, is in seventh heaven with a true companion by his side.
In a perfect world, Battenberg and Punxsutawney Phil would be adopted together—and they proudly qualify for our Bonded Buddies Program. If you’re open to welcoming a ready-made friendship into your home, these two are something truly special.

Because Battenberg has a chronic condition requiring lifelong management, Dr. Jen, through Feline Wellness Center, is generously offering free medical care related to his stomatitis, including office visits, therapies, and all necessary medications.

Battenberg has already survived the hard part. Now he’s ready for the soft place to land—preferably with his best buddy right by his side.
If you’d like to learn more about Battenberg, Punxy, or our Bonded Buddies Program, please reach out. 💛
