Meet Bastet
Represented in Egyptian art with a cat’s head on a human body, or as a momma cat with kittens, the goddess Bastet has a dual nature as the fierce protector of pregnant women and young children and the embodiment of nurturing qualities. The spirited Bastet, our appropriately named STAF kitty, was rescued when her owner’s landlord decided to ban cats from his properties. Just a week later, she gave birth to four darling furbabies in the home of an awesome foster volunteer. Bastet took good care of her charges until they were ready for their forever homes. It is now her turn to live the good life!
Like her namesake, Bastet is one supremely elegant cat. She has pleasing lines, a rather muscular form and a small, narrow face perhaps from a mix with an Oriental breed. (Her big kittens look nothing like her!) A tricolor tabby, her arresting green eyes are the perfect complement to her warm tawny coat.
Bastet is affectionate and attentive with people, winding herself around legs adorably. She also enjoys being held. In the past, she was rather feisty with other cats, but is now getting along with them fine. She might still be happiest as an only girl or with her daughter, Eliza. The Egyptians did not worship cats but deeply admired their feline attributes. Yet, our Bastet deserves your worship. May she bask in the sun for eternity!

Cat adoption information and application can be found at www.staf.org.
All cats and kittens have been vet-checked, spayed/neutered, and are up-to-date on vaccinations. Adoption fee includes carrier, scratching pad, starter pack of food and litter, and toy. We prefer kittens be adopted in pairs. We offer free advice anytime about your adopted cat. If, for any reason, it doesn't work out, we will take the cat back, anytime in the future. Potential adopters must be interviewed in person, at the shelter, and live within 150 miles of Cincinnati. We will ask you to return to the shelter for a second visit to be sure of your decision. Sorry, we do not ship our cats or kittens! Please email Jean at jean@staf.org for more info. on adopting!
