Basil's Story
Basil is a lanky, playful black panther who spent most of his life in a shelter and is still learning to trust people. He’s getting braver every day and loves cheek scratches, tummy rubs and playing with a string toy. He needs patient humans who'll let him set the pace. With time and love, this sweet boy will blossom.

He’s also a bit of a collector—mainly socks. You’ll find them thoughtfully arranged outside your bedroom door like strange little gifts. Add in his bathtub sprints and proud parading of packing peanuts, and you’ve got a cat who’s part athlete, part oddball, and 100% original.

Basil is playful, curious, and always up to something quietly hilarious. He’d thrive in a home that appreciates a cat who makes his own fun—and maybe starts a sock pile while he’s at it.

If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind companion with mysterious hobbies and a soft side, Basil's ready to move in. Basil was born May 26, 2023.

If you live in Chicago and are interested in learning more about Basil, please contact Toni McNaughton at tonimcn@rcn.com and Lisa Ward at catladychicago@yahoo.com. Please tell us a bit about your situation, what you are looking for, the composition of your current household (the other humans and/or pets who already live there).
