Barney's Story

****This is not a BAR listing. This is a courtesy post. Please contact Jill Braaton (520-442-9002) for more information or to meet Barney.****

Barney is very regal and acts like a little king. When he first come into the house he strutted around like he owned the place. Since being abandoned whatever survival challenges he faced, he's content now, probably for the first time. He enjoys being inside and outside to roll in (or eat) the grass. He's fine with a hug but really enjoys being combed/brushed or massaged with a damp towel. He needs someone who understand the trauma of neglect/abandonment. Since Barney is dominate, he's best as an "only child" or with a friend who won't bully him. He does not spray and he's learned to be gentle with his "love bites." I wrap him in a towel to trim his nails and he's fine.
Barney showed up as a stray (feral?) and hung out at the barn. I had to trap him to take him in for shots and neutering. It took time but we became friends. He would come running when I called his name and he obviously never felt secure before. He needs a home with someone who will listen to his way of communication. We can make arrangements to meet Barney before final decisions of adoption. If something happens where you can't keep Barney, he's always welcome here.

We think Barney is 2-3 years old. He is neutered and his shots are up-to-date.

****This is not a BAR listing. This is a courtesy post. Please contact Jill Bratton (520-442-9002) for more information or to meet Barney. ****
