Bandit's Story

Bandit is an Oriental Shorthair and is about 4 years old, neutered (he wasn’t when we got him); current on vaccines; negative for Feline AIDS and Feline Leukemia and has been treated for internal and external parasites.

Bandit (formerly known as Biscuits and Gravy) came to us after spending several weeks in a cage at the county shelter. He came to the shelter from the Emergency Vet, where he was brought when found and was diagnosed with a broken hip and left rear leg. He did not receive the needed veterinary care until he was pulled from the shelter and was operated on to set his broken leg. He then spent an extended period of time in “cage rest” in a foster home. After several weeks, he was allowed to roam his foster home, but was reluctant, initially, to leave his cage. We’re not certain, but it appears he may have been a breeder’s cat and didn’t know life beyond his cage! Thanks to his foster family, he has blossomed. In fact, the foster mom wrote this about him:

“Bandit absolutely adores my daughter. All day it seems as though he is waiting for her return. He lights up when she comes home and is straight there for snuggles. With that in mind I think the #1 priority for a new home would be for it to be with someone who is home all day/most of the day. Maybe retired or works from home. Whoever it is will need to be very understanding though as he may be slow to warm up.”

That said, we will be very particular about his new person/family, and expect them to be familiar with his breed and experienced and patient with shy cats. Also, please note that hip and leg injuries have left him unable to jump up on furniture, etc., although he can climb/pull himself up on cat trees, etc. And, since he's unable to jump, he would do best in a home without dogs and small children. We are looking for the Purrfect Forever home for this sweet boy.
